Ok, another boat shot! These sail are beautiful - what great shape! (The boats are called Dhow's, and these were captured Zanzibar). The two tone water is what makes it for me. (A little bit unhappy with the upload quality - but you can see where I'm going) :D
Veloran from Singapore 29 Jul 2006, 05:11
I like the tone of the water too, and lovely silhouette! Have you tried this in black and white? Since there isn't much colour anyway...
Kirsten Pearse: Hi Veloran. Thanks for the comment. I haven't tried it in black and white - but my wife and I were dicussing that exact thing this week-end! (And it does look really nice!) I'll post it a little later so you can take a look! Thanks again! K smile

This is a great and informative image - Like the tones and the effect of shadow for the boat - Thumbs up !!
Kirsten Pearse: Thanks Zebigleb - Glad you like it!

Nice shot. I guess it might have looked more dramatic if you had included the sun on the right as well.
Kirsten Pearse: Hi Navin. Thanks for the comment. K

Hi there KP, sorry to be so late today, been very busy. Absolutely superb shot, but feel there is just a touch too much light on RHS of water. Regards, Neil.
Kirsten Pearse: Hey Neil - Thanks for the comment. Personally I like it a little blown out, kinda gives a little bit of a 'ying yang' feel! (I'm hoping to get some new stuff up next week, so keep a look out!) K

Mal from Great Britain (UK) 7 Nov 2006, 18:04

Hi Kirsten

jambo zanzibar...lovely shot...i like it just the way it is...is that an outboard motor on the back?

I have travelled on a lot of Dhows in the kenyan archipelago and its looks far more romantic than it is when on board...very uncomfortable and really lousy if the wind is not perfect!...but an experience worth doing!!!
